Hue: Replicating Intergenerational Self-help Club in 2020
With practical benefits that have been proven, the Intergenerational Self-Help Club model has been replicated by the government and other sectors, especially the Association of the Elderly at all levels across the Vietnam.
To effectively implement the care and promotion of the role of the older people following the local socio-economic conditions, on February 19, 2020, the People's Committee of Thua Thien Hue Province issued Plan No. 47 / KH-UBND on the implementation of the provincial on National Action Program on the Elderly in 2020 with a variety of content to ensure the needs of the olders. In particular, the plan emphasizes the mission of replicating 10 intergenerational clubs to help each other in 10 communes, wards and towns thereby improving the quality of life for poor and disadvantaged elderly people. At the same time, the province also has a plan to organize the review and evaluation of the construction of intergenerational self-help clubs in the province in the period of 2016-2020.
In March 2020, the People's Committee of Hue City also issued Plan No. 928 / KH-UBND to implement the National Action Program on the Elderly in 2020. At the plan, the City People's Committee also set out the targets in care for the older by 2020, including: Striving for 50% of the oldersto be able to participate in economic activities and have demand for guidance on production and business, support for production means and transfer. technology transfer, product consumption, production development loan; strive to 80% of wards support the establishment and operation of the Fund to promote the role of the elderly in the area; strive to have 100% of the older people have health insurance for medical examination and treatment, and access the care of family and community. To fulfill the set targets, the City People's Committee also requires the relevant agencies, departments to replicate intergenerational self-help club model to help older people improving the quality of life, especially the poor, disadvantaged ones in the area ...
The replication of the Self-Generation Inter-Club Club model not only creates a community environment to meet the sharing and exchange needs of the olders. With diverse activities, the Club also offers the opportunity to participate in the economic development. Thus, not only are loans supported for self-production, the olders are also supported with appropriate production techniques for economic development, thereby creating conditions for the older to develop themselves.
Communication activities about the knowledge, skills for self-care as well as community support, homecare volunteer activities also contribute to increasing coordination between the health sector and the community in term of older people care, making use of locally available resources to manage and care for the olders in their hometown. Thus, it can be seen that the goal of replicating and implementing the Intergenerational Self-Help Club model not only benefits the local older people, but also contributes to the good implementation of poverty reduction goals, support the health sector in caring and managing the health of the olders in the community, thereby contributing to the overall goal of caring for the olders nationwide.
